Elva Teresa Darrett is our senior staff member and serves as the Program Coordinator/Trainer at H.E.A.R.T.S. Connection. Elva has been employed with H.E.A.R.T.S for the past 23 years.

She has been married to her husband Adrian for 33 years and together, they have a son, a daughter in law, and 2 beautiful granddaughters.

Elva is originally from Arvin, California and graduated from Arvin High School. She then went on to Bakersfield College to pursue a nursing career.

She was first introduced to H.E.A.R.T.S. Connection by her older sister, who is a parent of an adult with special needs. She started as the Receptionist Librarian and went on to become a Bilingual Resource Specialist. Through the years, Elva has facilitated parent support groups, organized family events, and trained parents to be the best advocates for their child throughout Kern County.

Through all of this, she has obtained many certificates and made many relationships with parents, professionals, and clients. The trainings and certificates she has obtained include Development Program Leadership through KCNC, IEP Facilitator, Conflict Prevention and IEP Meeting Facilitator, and many more!

Elva is a unique person with a contagious laugh! It doesn’t matter where she is - if it’s funny to her, she doesn’t care who is around and she won’t hold back! She will laugh so loud, you know she is there and others will often join in (which gets her in to trouble from time to time).

Her coworkers have described her as Energetic, Loving, Valuable and Amazing. Her passions include reading the bible and spending time with her family and friends. If you ask Elva to describe herself in one word, she will simply say FABULOUS.
